About Mark Shelton

Mark Shelton, from Vermont, is a versatile and acclaimed entertainer known for incredible Elvis impersonations, dynamic classic rock/gospel shows, and even a pirate persona ("Captain Radical"), wowing audiences with his vocal range and showmanship across genres, often performing locally in VT and touring nationally.

He excels in Gospel, Christian Contemporary, Classic Rock, Country, and especially Elvis tributes.  He delivers powerful Christian and Gospel music, known for strong vocals and meaningful lyrics, having performed in hundreds of various churches around North America.  Mark Shelton has also done international gospel tours with original music and theatrical presentations.

Internationally acclaimed and inducted into the ETA Hall of Fame multiple times, he's known as "The King" in his shows.  Mark Shelton is widely recognized as an exceptional Elvis Tribute Artist, capturing the essence of "The King" from the 50s to the 70s, leaving audiences breathless with his vocal accuracy, presence and command of the stage.

He developed a specialized children's theater persona, "Captain Radical – the Pirate King of Rock and Roll," combining music with family entertainment.

He performs at festivals, churches, and events throughout the Eastern seaboard and beyond.  He often does residencies in the White Mountains of New Hampshire during the Fall Foliage season at the Indian Head Resort as well as cruise ships and events on Lake Winnepesaukee.  Mark has performed throughout America, Canada and the Caribbean as well as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, California; Washington; Sedona Arizona.

Consistently performing sellout shows in his presentation of Elvis during “THE KING RETURNS” concert tours, Mark became internationally acclaimed as an Elvis Tribute Artist. His shows received national attention being featured on ABC News, CBS Inside Edition, Good Morning America, and many, many more; as well as receiving global accolades including feature stories in India, Fuji Television Network in Japan, and the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom!  

In the entertainment field, Mark Shelton has had an amazing career spanning multi-faceted venues, having recorded several times in Nashville, Tennessee, releasing custom projects; has recorded and performed in Canada, on Cruise Ships, in hundreds of churches, schools, auditoriums, at festivals, State Fairs, on live television and radio, and has performed at major music festivals including “Soulfest”; “Block Island Music Festival”; the M/S Mt. Washington Cruise Ship, the Florida State Fair,  “Godstock”, “Jesus is Lord” Festival, the “Lake Champlain Maritime Festival”, Myrtle Beach Bike Week, Palm Beach, Inch Beach, Marathon, Anna Maria Island, Key West, (etc., etc., ), Montreal, Germany, the Caribbean and performed a special tribute to the music of the Rat Pack at the Hilton in Long Beach, California, for “Project Cuddle”. Mark was then invited back to Los Angeles to perform once again at the Hilton in February of 2016 at an event hosted by very popular actor, John Stamos, this time doing the music of the “Flower Power’ era.  In 2011, Mark sang the National Anthem in front of a crowd of over 37,000 for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.  Mark has multiple album releases of his own material as well as cover songs featuring some of music’s greatest hits. 

Mark Shelton is a life-long resident of the State of Vermont, living on the border of Canada, 90 minutes from Montreal. He married his beautiful and beloved wife, Lisa Joy, who has now transitioned to Heaven.  The couple shared two children, Barry Shelton and Johna Saltsman, who each utilize their musical gifts in their own right.  Mark and Lisa performed throughout their lives together. In 2022, Mark retired from a 44 year career in Criminal Justice beginning as a Military Police Officer with the United States Army, and went on to a 34 year career with the Vermont Department of Corrections having worked as a Probation and Parole Officer, Corrections Officer, and Training Officer.   He is deeply involved in local and global charities and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1998 for humanitarian work.  On another interesting note, Mark Shelton has performed as a professional wrestler bringing the character “Archangel” to life!  (that is another story all in itself!) 

Florida :  A very popular entertainer, Mark Shelton performs throughout the winter months in a multitude of Florida events from Amelia Island, Clearwater, Ruth Eckherd Hall, the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts,  from Miami to West Palm Beach;  Mark quite frequently performs throughout Southwestern Florida and very often in the Florida Keys.  He is a member of the Florida Fairs and Entertainment Association, showing his reach extends south for special engagements

Global Recognition:  A pioneer in social media performances and having performed over a thousand live concerts on line via Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms, Mark Shelton has a global following for his live concerts.  He maintains an active Official Fan Club on Facebook where he hosts "Facebook Live" concerts. Mark Shelton also reached international acclaim throughout the world due to his tributes to the music of Elvis Presley which Mark Shelton dedicated to his wife as she was battling stage 4 lung cancer.

Benefit Concerts: Mark Shelton regularly performs as a variety of charitable events ranging from cancer benefits, Police and Fireman, food and clothing benefits, benefits for housing, international water, farms, children’s programs, nursing homes, hospital projects, American and International Red Cross. the list goes on and on.  Mark Shelton is a very popular entertainer in the field.

Current Activity (2025/2026)

  • Florida Residency: In 2025/2026, Shelton has performed regularly in Florida, including a Valentine’s Day concert at the American Legion Post 113 in Rotonda West, sets at the Big Oaks RV Resort in Brooksville, and many venues in The Florida Keys, the Fort Myers & the Villages areas.

  • Vermont & New England: He returns to New England for the summer season, kicking off at the Lilac Festival in Lisbon, New Hampshire. His schedule includes multiple dates at the Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, NH, and local Vermont/NH venues such as the Island Pond Legion. Mark is also available for your Private Parties!

  • Online Presence: He maintains an active Mark Shelton Official Fan Club on Facebook where he regularly hosts "Facebook Live" concerts.  Mark also maintains a YouTube Channel online: Mark Shelton VT YouTube where you can see some of his videos.

Musical Foundation

Mark Shelton’s musical background is rooted in lifelong vocal performance. Though he did not pursue a formal degree in music, instead his training came from early exposure and high school performance. Shelton and his late wife, Lisa, both have performed vocally throughout their entire lives. He first performed the music of Elvis Presley while in high school. He eventually returned to this repertoire later in life as a tribute to his wife after her terminal cancer diagnosis, losing nearly 200 pounds to accurately portray "The King".  While he is a dedicated musician, his formal higher education focused on communications and public service: 

Accolades and Honors

  • Mark is a three-time inductee into the International Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) Hall of Fame, receiving "Legend" status in 2022.

  • He won the People’s Choice Award at the 2017 "Reflections of the King" and the 2019 Montreal tribute event.
    His shows have been featured on national programs such as ABC NewsCBS Inside Edition, and Good Morning America

  • He is an award-winning Gospel singer, being recognized as the Best Christian Male Artist by Toronto Magazine in 2008; and won the North American Gospel Music Vocalist of the Year in 2018 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
